SMOG FREE HELPS DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS GO ELECTRIC!

A SUMMER PROBLEM

Denver's ozone problem continues to worsen.  Ozone is a compound created when gas, oil or coal are burned and combine with sun and other chemicals.  It increases in concentration on warm summer days (see EPA standards page for more detailed discussion).

Much of today's electric lawn equipment's performance is now on par with gasoline equipment.  Electric lawn equipment emits no local pollution.  And  the cost of this equipment is now similar to gasoline equipment.  There are even commercial fleet options now  (see AGZA)

Roughly 10% of Denver's summer ozone is thought to come from gasoline lawn equipment (73).  We here at SmogFree Denver support a citywide transition to all electric lawn equipment now.  We also believe this transition should occur in all of the front range.  The technology is ready.  The comparison tables below show how this lawn equipment stacks up against gasoline equipment.  You will be impressed with electric!

Smog Free Denver is proud to have acquired a grant in 2021 that helped us deploy electric lawn equipment to several Denver Public Schools and schools in Adams County 14 school district. From 2022 to 2023, these large purchases were put in north Denver and southern Adams county: the most polluted part of the Denver metro area. We are very excited about this work. See our pics below!
