Denver City Council

How You Can Be Heard

Denver  has committed to an 80% reduction in all of its greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 (57).  This is a tremendous step by the city and it will reduce pollution in the city greatly.  But we need your help to move this along.  Contact your city council representative (see to the right) and let them know you support the city's 80x50 plan and efforts to strengthen it.  Voice your support for electric lawn equipment citywide and eventual electrification of everything.  Your voice matters!

Contact your City Council Member

While Denver's governmental structure is a strong-mayor organization, Denver City Council has a big say in new legislation and how the mayor spends the budget. Getting to know your Council Person will pay off when you want to get things done in Denver. As a resident of Denver, you have a dedicated City Council member depending on which of the eleven City Council Districts you are in. There are also 2 "At-Large" Council Members who represent everyone in Denver. It is worth reaching out to all 3 of them. To find out the Council Member for your District and their contact information, there is a Denver City Council Contact Page with phone numbers and emails.

Proposition 2A

By an almost 65% vote, Denver voters passed Proposition 2A on November 3, 2020.  This ballot initiative was a tiny city tax to raise millions of dollars every year for green jobs, electric car initiatives, solar panel initiatives and more.  SmogFree Denver was influential in helping craft this legislation.

We Can Do This!

Your voice makes a difference!  The above photo shows Denver Mayor Michael Hancock in July 2018 announcing the city is committing to 100% renewable energy for its electricity by 2030.  This commitment took years of hard work by concerned community members just like you.  Join us as we take the next steps to move Denver  into a cleaner and a more sustainable future.
